Senior Consultant at FSG

Catalina Martínez

I am passionate about the power of private capital as a force for good. I have had the privilege to work with leading investors, corporations, entrepreneurs, foundations, policy makers, and academics on multiple impact investing topics. Originally from Bogot¬a, I am based in Geneva with my husband and my little son.

I am currently Senior Consultant at FSG, where I advise corporations and impact investors, helping them understand the economics of impact in their value chains and interest areas. This implies quantifying trade-offs and win-win opportunities, as well as identifying leverage points within market systems where investment strategies can be most successful in financing and managing the true cost of change. I am also a Lecturer in Impact Investing at the Geneva Finance Research Institute of the University of Geneva.
Previously, I was Head of Latin America at Blue Marble Microinsurance, seconded by Aspen Insurance Group. I was also Research Assistant at Zurich Insurance Group, working with the strategic asset allocation and responsible investment teams. I have been an independent consultant for the ICRC, WEF, World Bank, ITC, and OECD.
I was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University and at the University of Geneva, and a doctoral researcher at the University of Zurich. I hold a PhD in Development Economics and a MA in International Economics from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. I was trained as an economist and philosopher at Universidad de los Andes in Bogota.
